The sun sets slowly
Guys,
I just wanted to let you all know that I'm moving into a stage of quasi-retirement from winbolo. I'll still be on the channel a fair amount, and will still read wbn, at least in the short term. I might even play the odd game with people who have their heads screwed on straight. But the fact of the matter is I've realized that it's just not much fun for me anymore. Too much frustration for too little enjoyment. I'm at a point in life where I'm reassessing things, and I've realized that, at the end of the day, I'd rather have spent those hours reading a great book, hanging out with friends, playing sports, and generally living life in a memorable way.
There have been too many times recently where I've spent all afternoon hanging out on the channel, trying to get a game, only to have it devolve into yet another 10-player orgie on CT3 in which the newbie du jour, invariably typing in all caps, wrecks things, or someone doesn't hold, or someone quits when he's reduced to 6 pills and demands a rematch, etc. I've just outgrown my patience for it, so rather than continue my current policy of yelling at those at fault or merely deciding they're idiots, I'd rather just not experience the irritation in the first place. No more spending hours justifying bans, discussing who should(n't) get ops, dealing with the .com/.us whining, or any of that.
In the end, life's too short to spend on a video game, even if it's one as good as (win)bolo. It's been fun everyone. As I said earlier, though, I'm not disappearing entirely -- there are a number of you with whom I really like to shoot the shit. My only request is that the dimwit locals (and you know you are) not make this post into the same mockery they make everything else around here. I'm just stating my honest feelings, which is what I've always tried to do.
I'll see you all around. And for the record, Sickboy is a lot funnier than I'll ever be.
Kax
