Its all about Cal! Go Bears!!!
Dec 07, 2003 22:39
Well, sadly, the BCS has screwed up again and has chosen Oklahoma and LSU to play in the College Football National Championship even though Oklahoma lost yesterday and USC is #1 in both human polls.
Dec 07, 2003 22:41
yea, well Cal beat USC!
Dec 07, 2003 22:45
Ya, epist, but what was Cal's record for the "whole" season? :)

USC isn't in the title game because they did not play a tough schedule.

To me this is a lesson for teams that play barely Div. IA opponents, when the things get tight in a race where all teams have one loss. Playing against lessor teams costs you in the end. USC had the 37th toughest schedule in the country, no quality wins, and as a result, no title game.

When USC lost to Cal, they dropped from 3rd to the second team with one loss (Michigan) 10th.

Oklahoma, following their loss, dropped to the last place of the teams with one loss. Still their strength of schedule (7th) and quality wins kept them in 1st place in the BCS.

USC has no one to blame but themselves. Next year play someone like Miami, Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, or LSU. Then your strength of schedule won't be the lowest of the six BCS teams.

if it was up to me Boston College, despite their record would be the national championship game. I had said early in the season FSU would take it, but they screwed me over gd small-handed QB. It come down to what Wonka said. If USC had a tougher schedule they would be in the bowl game.

But now, forget about college and look at the Patriots 11-2 after week 14. Did I call that or what?

*pats himself on the back

so, if you want to hop on the Pats bandwagon like 14 y/o Cali boys be my guest.

woo hah! Pats AFC East Champs!! Next AFC Champs followed by another superbowl!!!

Yes, the strength of schedule was the deciding factor. I heard that if Notre Dame would have beaten Syracuse, USC would be in the National Championship instead of LSU. It was that close of a race.
