I was playing an open game with a winbolo veteran tonight and he used speed hack to get back to the action quicker, and pick up dead pills before i could get there. I confronted him about it and told everyone who was listening in IRC about it, so some people know who it was, and he knows too. I won't mention his name even though he may come forward about it or someone else may bring his name up. but he admitted to doing it, saying that it's an open game and we're just messing around, so it's ok to do it. I disagree. Cheating is cheating no matter what the circumstances and you just shouldn't be using the speed hack or any other hack, it's just WRONG. And here is a veteran winbolo player who knows damn well better than to do this.
If you don't know who I am talking about, you'd probably be very surpised to hear who it is.
Scout, this really isn't a big deal. Does he cheat every single game? No. Was he just having some fun? Yes. Does it matter all that much, since it was an open game? No. Is this post here going to do anything? No. It's about as effective as George Bush declaring war on terrorism. Oh, yeah, I guess that means that no one's gonna bomb shit anymore. Here comes Nova to LRL's rescue! Do you play Nova? how do you know he doesn't use them every game? he most likely doesn't but its just a point. I think used in some ways cheats can be fun and you should be able to have some fun by using them. Using them in a strict etc would be stupid foolish and gay but an open.....what the hell let him do it......nothin is funner then walking into a couple of newbs super base and not dieing :)

On my bot "speed hacks" are not permitted on a regular basis. MS, what are open games truly for? Having some fun correct, strict games are also fun, but a bit more serious. I see no problem here whatsoever.

I'm not surprised in the least. A week ago people came to me and accused the same player of using a memory hack in my tourny. Obviously I cant prove it, but w/e. Afterwards I was yelled at for slandering etc etc. I explained to this player what I had said in the channel to the public and he was cool and said he didnt hack. As I said though, with a memory hack there is absolutely no way to tell if someone is using that.
As Far as hacking in games, yeah people can use it, but I think that it should be discussed with all players playing the game first or on their own time. I mean when I play GTA some parts I suck at, so I'll use all waepons and armor cheats. I suppose the same goes for winbolo with some players. Things are too tough so they need an easier way of playing. In my case I have never used a hack nor will I in bolo. But, to each their own
The difference between winbolo and GTA is winbolo is an online game, played against other (real) people, as opposed to AI or sprites. Therefore, a certain level of trust and respect is required to play at a fair and enjoyable level, for all players.
If the people in the game don't mind it being used, or were asked before hand and agreed, then using any hack or "cheat" should not be a problem. Since it is no longer a cheat. Its like playing chess with a 1 minute timer on each side. total chaos. but can be fun.
however, cheats shouldnt be used in strict games or tourny games (obviously) or in open games. its an unfair advantage. like playing tic tac toes, but the other dude puts 2 Xs down at a time.
in any case, i hope the next version of winbolo will fix the problems that have plagued players for years.

As I have mentioned before, I don't allow any cheats or hacks on my server, why should open games be any different? And why is an open different then a tourney? Different play style is needed, but it's still a part of the bolo.
And on that note, MadMaxx, you are banned from sheepbot for using speed hack, you have been warned.
The only time where I think using a hack makes any sense is that if everyone in a LOCKED PRIVATE game are using it, thus an even playing field. If you want to run a speed-bolo game on your own server with everyone using it, have a ball. I just don't like the idea of one person using a hack for the "fun" of it, while anyone from the tracker can join.
I have a couple rules that i use as guidlines when i speed hack:
1) MUST BE AN OPEN GAME (open games are crazy)
2) I never pixck up pills with it, unless theyre nuetral (this stops ppl from bein pissed at me)
3) i dont use it in an open unless every1 is allied and the game is fucked up.
4) i must be dangerous. if i have the speed hck on you are in danger f being assasinated. if you're carrying pills and kill you, i will always return them to you.
5)sorry, there is no fifth rule.
1 more thing, i only use it on little ppls game servers, not the big ones like renbot or sheepbot. 99% of the time its on my own server, and if you dont like it too bad. note that i also usually lock the game if im hangin out with friends in one.
