Forgot to mention that, as always, player ranking and related statistics can be found off the statsistics page: http://www.winbolo.net/stats.php

perhaps you can post the irc statistics .. since we're going in that direction ...

hrm...

I didn't think everard was that popular, cuz there aren't that many ppl who start everard games. But, alas, it came in second, so i guess thats the reason most players know it like the back of their hand.

Thats probably my fault.

linbolods -inbuilt -port 27500 -gametype open also just rolls off my fingers. I'll have to remember to add -nowinbolonet when testing out stuff now.

do you still have the link to those irc statistics you made awhile ago?

Yes they are at: http://winbolo.com/irc/

They are from 2000 (back when the channel was on efnet) through to early February 2003 for whenever I was logged into IRC.

I have rotated all the logs after that and may write a script that will upload it weekly if people are interested. Others feel free to do so instead of me :)

Any chance info like this (and anything else you collect) could be included in the game log pages? Adding this to the numbering of the Non-winbolo players, and the logs would be a pretty good picture of the games.

Adding when alliance are created and left is not very hard to do. Would you like to create a image for each of them like the lgm death? :)

Adding number of non winbolo.net participants represents some challenges. For example: what happens when a player leaves and a new player joins? Does the number get recycled or replaced? How would you know if it is the same person rejoining or a different person?

is there anyway you could have non winbolo.net participant "name" or [name] etc?

Like SJ said, could the name be pulled from the game? If not, could the player number be tied to their IP. As in, "Non-winbolo players 1 from 127.0.0.1 just joined the game." "Player 1 from 127.0.0.0 rejoined the game." etc.

As mentioned in the previous post, this is something that at can not be easily done at this stage.

The idea behind winbolo.net is for it to provide statistics and to track winbolo.net particpants. It was not to track every single player. Players are free to choose whether they wish to participate (on a game by game basis) and show up on the site or not. By displaying all player names and/or IP's it is essentially forcing everyone to be shown, unless they don't play on winbolo.net participating servers.

Additionally, one of the other ideas behind winbolo.net is to be able to say with confidence that player "XYZ" or "Elvis" really is Elvis if they are signed in and not someone trolling. If a player isn't using winbolo.net then personally I don't believe whoever they claim to be.

So with that in mind, what benefit is actually seen by adding a player name/IP or a non-participant number? The only benefit would be that reading the logs would give a more accurate picture of what happened in the game when there are multiple non-winbolo.net partipants. As the current logs disappear 24 hours after the game completes is it worth adding? (I don't know of anyone making copies of the logs for their own use later on.) If a "game diary" idea ever got realised it may make more sense because you would be looking through your game histories later on.

A simplier solution would be for more people to use winbolo.net accounts :)

I think the non-winbolo.net players should at least be numbered.

i agree with min... i would like to now all the competition if possible
Apr 15, 2003 07:09
well, if they arn't numbered and your looking back through a log for some reason .. it makes it hard to know who is who ... like if 2 non-winbolo.net people join and 1x1 .... how can you watch? .... all you see is non-winbolo.net player

Of the 1128 people currently registered with WBN, only 190 have actually said something on the forums.

I don't think it's much of a surprise that leading the race for the most posts is currently Madd Maxx, with his 284 posts, accounting for 10.65% of the total at an average rate of 1.61 posts per day as I am writing this.

It also helps when people like me have 5 of so wbn accounts but only post with this one. And I know I'm not the leader of this pack.

Interesting statistic tim_the_saxophonist. I havent checked how many posts i have made lately. I Dont think that pplz should be allowed to register more than 1 account at a time, It just makes it difficult to figgur out how many PPL are actually registered.

-Madd Maxx-

P.S. I only have 1 account registered, THIS ONE!

Yea, I just realized a little while ago that the winbolo.net account is the same as the forum account. How convenient.

You're right, good point. There are 1128 registrations with Winbolo. The account with the most posts is Madd Maxx
