time to finish the tournament

Dec 22, 2003 19:25 time to finish the tournament
I know, I know - there is a certain charm to dragging things out days past the deadline, but enough is enough. I have been around on .us pretty much constantly for the past week, and yet makaveli and I have not managed to coordinate our match. I did not get all the days off from work lately that I had planned on getting, so I apologize if I did miss an opportunity.

I think it has just come down to naming a time, so let's do it and move on with this thing already. Sometime before Christmas Eve is best, as I'll be busy with family and then back to work for a cpl days after that.

So maka -- can you play sometime within the next 48 hours?

because of the holiday, I am allowing up until the new year for the semi finals to be complete. But, according to my rules, because makaveli has not been around, he would forfeit. but, I haven't forced any forfeits yet and hope you two can play it out
Dec 23, 2003 05:53
well maka and I got our series finished up -- now we just
need to get LRL and Saiyan playing. Anyone know if they
have scheduled anything yet?

Who takes it? Who's cusine reigns supreme?

So what gives with forcing LRL to forfeit? You say here that all semi-finals have until the new year to finish?

I never forced LRL. In his posts in .us he fails to mention all the times i e-mailed him and tried talking to him on the channel. He would even be active in the channel and wouldnt answer. When he finally replied to me I told him I'd rather have him play it out. But he he never replied to me on that either and just said you forfeited me. That definately wasn't carved in stone. So forced, no I didn't force LRL to forfeit. He conceded on his own, telling me he felt it was a lose/lose situation anyway, b/c of the hacking accusations. He felt if he won people would think he hacked and if he lost people would say well he didnt hack. I doubt LRL will respond or reply but that's what happened. Unfortunate yes, but whatever.

Since when does LRL have to say something in response when you tell him he can have till january 1st, is it illegal in the US. Hell LRL doesn't have to respond to anything you say, but if you say something you must stick to it. *Freedom of speech*. That's like private messaging stimpy telling him he's won his 2,000,000 dollars and then if he doesn't respond within 5 minutes he doesn't win the money.

Ren,

what don't you understand about how I said to LRL he could still play but didn't respond and still hasn't. Are you gay fro LRL? I already sent him an e-mail saying I'd rather have him and Saiyan play out there last game. There's nothing more to say here. The ball is in LRL's court. If he chooses to play Saiyan or not. I'm guessing he won't, since last night I tried speaking with him again on irc while he was there and he simply ignored me.

who wouldn't ignore you :/

Guess what Ren, your *gasp* right! lrl doesn't "have" to do anything ... but if he's participating in a tournament, and refuses to respond to the coordinator of that tournament, it can be assumed he is no longer interested in participating. Thats it, thats all, done deal. It has nothing to do with his freedom or speech or anything other ignorant thing you have to say. It has nothing to do with bias, it has nothing to do with anything but lrl not responding to point blank questions about his status in the tournament.

thanx min, that about sums it up

Would a time deadline (resulting in a forfeit if not met) be appropriate?

You would think so. Their series was tied at 1-1 with 3 days left to play the last game. I've talked with both Sky n LRL. I think I would've waited until Jan 1st, if the last game wasn't played by then one of them would've forfeited.
Dec 31, 2003 05:53
sounds good 2 me!
Dec 31, 2003 08:03
Well, gee. One would think when a deadline is given it would be adhered to at least by the coordinator. But the email sky sent to me on 12-28 seems to suggest other wise.

And sky; now now, I did tell you in a convo that I would play saiyan before the deadline, not my fault you don’t remember or are too incompetent to comprehend.

After you sent me that email saying:

Unfortunately, I have no choice but to forfeit you from the tourny so that it can finish. So, Saiyan, congratulations. You have advanced into the final round to play Severian. Best of luck to you.

Then the morning I get that email you said I forfeited publicly, so be it, BUT get it strait, YOU forfeited me and I would not continue participating in that sham known as your tournament.

I won’t go along with you forfeiting people then taking it back, or saying something then taking it back. Wait a minute. Isn’t that the definition of sham?

Sham
1. Something false or empty that is purported to be genuine.
2. The quality of deceitfulness; empty pretense.

Sounds like it to me.

To any of the cheating accusations with my playing zach, you know that is BS and I DID NOT cheat! My opinion is no one other then Zach had a right to make such an accusation, since he didn’t you were/are plain stupid to listen to it or saying anything publicly about it.

I’m not obligated to communicate with you (sky), my only obligation on communication is to the fact of reporting the match results, and to communicate with my opponent and arrange the match.

So there it is, and as they say; that is that.

He sure told you the way it is. I don't overly like Lrl much......but he did get screwed over. If i were him I woulda used alot more four letter words in my post explaining how I felt about your making up rules as you see fit and pre-arranged final match-ups.
Dec 31, 2003 09:47
Sky's a cheat?!?!?!!!! Lets start making accusations.

wow, makes everyone want to run a tourney ... this sort of bullshit is why the IBL will never be resurrected by anyone with an ounce of sanity.
