Props to Sethos

Dec 24, 2003 07:27 Props to Sethos
Just a very quick post to tip my hat to Sethos for some excellent sportsmanship in a recent game.

The Situation: 4 player Tournament game. Me, Sinister, Sethos, and some other guy none of us knew.

Teams: Sinister suggested roc/sin vs. Sethos/other guy. Sethos didn't know who he was but he didn't make a big thing of it and we agreed to play.

Result: The other guy didn't really do much to help Sethos. Not saying the other guy was bad --maybe he was just having computer problems, or a bad day-- but regardless, he didn't do much, and the game was basically a 2v1.

The reaction: In many of the games I play the person in Sethos's position would take one or more of the following actions: (a) start screaming on non-ally channel "Mr. X -- DO SOMETHING!", (b) curse out his ally for being lame, or (c) quit the game saying something like "This is bs, laterz".

Sethos did NONE of those things. He didn't complain at all, and just played the game as well as he could (which was quite well btw) until it was over.

Bottom Line: We spend enough time on these forums ripping into people for their lame behavior -- I just wanted to take this opportunity to give a bit of props to a player who showed us all how it SHOULD be done.

Cheers,
-roc

Good at congradulating him roc, we spend so much time here descriminating and arguing that ppl rarley ever recieve complements such as this. :P

I agree with MM here, people do spend a hell of a long time arguing and I think this is the first post I've seen since joining the community that shows good sportsmanship. Well done roc and well done Sethos, 2 vs 1's can be a real bitch

We need more of this, I'm not saying we should all love each other cause that would be boring but a bit more recognition of players talents wouldn't go un-noticed. Course if we all got on all the time Madd Maxx wouldn't really have much to say ad we can have that now, the mans got over 1000 posts ;P

Ess-K

Holy Shit. That's a freaky good proverb  , where did you come across it?

Btw, Min rox!

it's these type of actions done by players like Sethos and Roc that not only show respect for one another and the game, but in turn should demand respect from other players. Hopefully the community can learn something valuable here. Go Pats!!

If you like that try this one on for size...

" A fool gives full vent to his anger,
but a wise man keeps himself under control."

Rather appropriate for this threat I thought...

I only ever flame whenever I'm bored or I feel like I'm having fun with a certain argument.
MadMaxx, I think it's an Arabic proverb, although it may be the other way around, trying to say that we should write the bad things and sand and carve the good things into stone. It's been a while since I've seen it.

Ahhh, I think Plato wrote the best proverbs:
Never discourage anyone...who continually makes progress, no matter how slow.

Since the bastard's dead, and he really didn't have too much authority when he was alive, anyways, I'm going to do whatever I want. Fuck Plato, I say.
Yes, yay for Roc and Sethos. Maybe this will be the beginning of a new trend.
