Over the past weeks i have been pondering. Would you guys like renbot to have auto spawned open games? Although sheepbot has it, do we want one more bot to take on the task?
Ren
No, there are already enough open games.
i would like battlezone.map autospawned every hour, WITH hidden mines.
HELL NO. To many open games as it is.
Nobody remembers there roots in bolo, There are not many players that started off playing strict tourney's....most of us started in open games, whether it be on a mac, a school lan, or at home most of our first games were opens, the opens are needed to keep the newbs flowing in to replace the vets certain people are driving away. Go for it ren, open games roxor.
damn right SJ. My first games were open. Making super-bases in open's is fun as hell. I remember when i played back in middle skool, most ppl were afraid to play tournament games  .
but spawn plenty of strict games too please
Non-passworded strict games can get kinda lame, Acro. You end up getting 10X3 after a while. That's why we have passworded games only available to IRC'ers.
without the passwords on strict games, ppl might not wanna irc. That kinda sux. This way ppl can use my tutorial to connext to IRC.
aye, we could.
/me stares @ nova
I think people need to be able to play without ever touching irc .... some people have stuff in the works that will allow this to happen, I look forward to the day that irc is empty.

I'm with Min on this one. Nothing against the Chat, but it's too much hassle for lazy folks like me. I like to find a strict game from sheeps or whatever and go with that. Granted, nOObs will ruin some of them, but I played several wonderful strict games today from the bots without using IRC. The autospawned open games should attract most of the nOObs anyway. Also, I hate the way the MIRC program persists on my computer. I have to minimize it to use another program; it won't hide upon clicking on another open program like most other programs will. It's kinda a pain in the ass. IRC is still necessary for passworded games, sure, but usually I want to just hop online and join a strict game.
not to mention ... open games are played for "fun" .... and thats really what playing a video game is all about anyways, if your not having fun, your just in it to be the best. Then why are you playing it? ... thats the reason I don't play certain players. They are far to interested in beating me, rather than having fun playing me.
Min
I like it, open games are relaxing
Although I am one of the minority that started bolo pretty well completly off sole strict game playing, i agree in the point that is being made, that winbolo needs to keep easily accessible games up for the "average" gamer and new player to get in and play right away, without hours of studying strict game strategy, chatting endlessly in futility, or downloading 3rd party software to interact with others in order to play.
the difference is, i started bolo at the end of its prime, when opens were rare, if not extinct, and tournies were the name of the game. also, because open games are usually only fun, at least in my case, when there are more than a small handful of people, playing from a 28.8 modem didnt give me the option of playing inlarge crowds. instead, 1x1s and 2x2s, sometimes 3x3s (when everyone else is on broadband, and they are patient with my latency) were all i did, and thats where i came from.
anyways, to cut my babble short, to keep winbolo alive we need players, and to get players we need to reach out to the masses, if we are to survive. that means putting up with dumb people, and not limiting ourselves to our elitest irc circles. not to say i have anything against the irc channels. they should be there, and should be readily accessble, but as an addition or enhancement to bolo, not its sole tool of playing.

ive been thinking about this b4 this topic started.........nowadays i play too many open games......real games are gard to come by......i think we should teach ALL NEWBS the rules so we can have sum real winbolo.
I believe I have a solution.......
There are three main bots, right; Renbot, Pawnybot, and Sheepsbot? There are also three types of winbolo games; Open, Tournament, and Strict Tournament. How about we assign each bot one type of game, so that every game type is covered? This would create an equal balance between the three game types.
Here is what I mean.
(This is just an example.)
Renbot: Open Games
Pawnybot: Tournament Games
Sheepsbot: Strict Games
Ok, how does that sound to you guys? I really think this would work well.
