Veteran strict players would probably find this annoying yet I can say it would be fun. Holding the middle in an open game would be tough and probably not even possible in a strict. It'll play like a ring and I think the middle might get ignored. You have enough trees and the trap effect reminds me of one of the QChew Toys - lesson being: don't sit in the middle and get cut off.
