I chose classical, because it is the mother of all music, without it, we would not have the theory that has created the music we all listen to and love today. I listen to pretty much everything, I've even started to warm up to rap. The one genre that I think I can't stand would have to be country gosple, it combines two of my most disliked genres (and my mom listens to it religiously *gag*)

for mad. ^ ^

I myself am a violinist and have a $400 dollar keyboard i purchased cash about four years ago. I don't play keyboard or piano. Hmmm. I am an artist so i do prefer music that is good. Although I do tend to prefer most classical pieces.

Heh, I grabbed a few more downloads off of min's list.

I have a special place in my heart for the Smashing Pumpkin's 'Hummer' and 'The Tale of Dusty and Pistol Pete' among others.

A kickass download I got today: Tasmin Archer's 'Sleeping Satellite'

I hate Rap and Country.

Top 5 artists or groups: Collective Soul, Anggun, Tears for Fears, Enya, Coldplay.

Shit I hate:

Rap, country, Christrian music, 80s music, hip-hop, most oldies (Beatles music the most), lots of punk rock, lots but not all alternative music (I don't mind Pearl Jam, Maroon 5 and shit but lots of it is annoying). I think I covered it all.

Shit I hate in music I like:

Lyrics that don't go along with the flow of music. Sometimes people try to do "cool" things with their music like stringing it past the flow... nuh-uh. Not for me.

Extremely repetitive songs. There's a song that I like on the radio by Earshot, but the only problem is that they put the chorus in the song one time too many. Right before the last chorus would've been a fine song, right there.

Songs depicting sex acts. No, I'm not a prude or anything, but these songs are kinda getting to be old hat. I don't mind Korn's "ADIDAS" song because it barely skims the surface and also because I like their sound a lot.

Well, there it is. Just my humble opinion. You could disagree with it, but you'd be wrong.

FUBAR...
who cares what everyone else thinks is good? I'm the only person that matters.

Nova...
Value old school. Even if it's just "old".

I've played percussion for five years, specializing in mallet instruments and drums. I am, however, decent when it comes to timpani and auxilary percussion.

Through my experiences in school bands and orchestras, I've acquired a strong appreciation for classical and jazz music. I thought it was incredible to see people crying at the high school's final concert during a beatiful arrangement of Amazing Grace.

My taste in music, however, includes far more than classical and jazz.

I really enjoy ska, punk, progressive and heavier rock, reggae, alternative, and well, basically most everything except most country and rap.

Here are my favorite bands in some of the catergories:

Ska: Catch 22
Punk: The Living End
Reggae: Bob Marley
Progressive Rock: Dream Theater (These guys are so amazing)
alternative: undecided

I've been listening to a CD called Liquid Tension Experiment lately that is a solely instrumental record. Although it was only recorded in one week, it is probably on of the most amazing records I have ever heard. The last tracks (9 - 13) are part of a 30 minute jam session that is completely improvisational. It is a true work of art.

I've been to a wide variety of concerts, ranging from Warped Tour to Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band to The Orange County Orchestra playing Rochmononav (spelling?) and Tshcaufcschy's (no clue on spelling).

I find that a large variety in music ineterests is beneficial because there is always a genre for every moment.

glad to see that rap and hip hop are winning in the votes :)

Even though I might be getting into a scene thats all about hip-hop, I'm not. I can't stand it unless you're talking about truly old-school stuff: Tribe Called Quest, EPMD, Sugarhill Gang, Afrikaa Bambaataa, etc.

For now I mostly listen to some techno and indie music. DJs Sasha and Digweed along with Ferry Corsten, Plastikman, Air, Tosca, and Aphex Twin top my list of techno.

Piebald, Hey Mercedes, Modest Mouse, Brand New, Pixies, Weezer, Dandy Warhols, Queens of the Stoneage, Deftones, Soundgarden round out my list of favorite rock or indie bands. And I'm glad to see someone still listens to ska music. Detroit had a huge ska scene but it came about just a few years too early for me to appreciate it.

If you like Jurassic 5 you might want to check out N.E.R.D. They've got some catchy beats that will keep your head bobbin. Also, if you like Jet (which I can't stand personally) you'll find the music of Thee Michelle Gun Elephant right up your alley. Lots of songs employ a heavy blues rock or even slightly rock-a-billy tone with incredible guitar playing. And, oh yeah, they're from Japan.

i like phil collins when he was genisis.
Jun 19, 2004 02:11 80's hard rock
My favorite type of music is 80's hard rock and some of the newer bands. Recentely I was just at an Aerosmith concert with Cheap Trick as there opening act. Some of my favorite bands are Accept, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Twisted Sister, White Lion, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Jet, Living Colour. There are many others but I'm to lazy to type them... :D By the way why are we talking about this in a computer game chat room??
Jun 19, 2004 03:40
Okay. First, look at the name of the forum this is posted under. Second, ask yourself why anyone talks about anything. To get other's peoples on views, to pass the time. Why talk about it here? Because Fubar wanted to get our views on things. If he wanted to get other people's views on things, he would've asked other people.

Not that it matters, but this is a "forum", not a "chat room".

...and Jet sux.

You saying "lizzy" kinda reminded me of "Thin Lizzy". I've only heard one of their songs, but "The Boys Are Back in Town" is a rockin' song.

I loved Peter Gabriel's stuff from the late 80s, early 90s. His videos were very entertaining and the songs were excellent. Now I don't really know.
