Over the past week or two I noticed that only a couple strict tourney (ORGANIZED, REAL) games have been played. Everything else is fucking open open open. And I want to ask why. Why in the hell do all these servers automatically spawn opens? Like what's up with that.... no one autospawns stricts..... except fermat, as of late. (Thanks Fermat)
Which raises the question: are you people too damn lazy to play a real game.... I've seen enough credible wnbolo players in opens all at the same time to easily make a 2v2 or 3v3..... so why is it that you join opens rather than stricts......why the hell do you people even have irc if you only play disorganized, shitty, laggy, bitchy opens? Isn't IRC for setting up REAL games?
It's getting totally lame guys.... and true winbolo is just going to die off if we don't fix it....... maybe the bot owners could have a certain period of time (day, week, ect.) to stop opens from being spawned AT ALL.... and spawn stricts instead.
Peace
Q
Well Q. part of the reason is school is back up...not a lot of players come and go. if u notice on irc that some of the people are not there as much anymore. so this in turn puts a damper on the quallity of strict games and the number played. secoundly when strict games get spawned with no pw they tend to get early started....no teams picked...and just genneral ffa. even if u tell them the rules your always gunna get someone that dont know and just start. so u kinda got a pick....spawn strict games and get them messed up and stressfull, as its not worth playing in the first place...or....spawn opens where nothing really matters and everyone learns on? at least thats how i see it.
Open games are less stressful, that's why I like 'em. I hate the sweating and concentration you gotta put in when you're in a 1x1 or strict game and the opponents are as good or better than you; then put up with the bitching afterward. In opens, I can mill around and goof off; base sit for a while and build a cool fortress, or just suicide. BTW, I'm missing sheeps's open game autospawner. What happened, Sheepster?
What do you mean less stressful? Open games are stress FREE.
jesus MM....u know all....and your always right....it must be great to be u.
and if u cant already tell cus u know sooo much...im being sarcastic.
Do I smell a hint of jealousy
not jealous...i just dont like it when people speak and dont think about what there saying.
Yeah, just have to block mm out sometimes, err, most of the time, lol.
I meant aoutospawning of strict PASSWORDED games... but anyway..........
yeah i like open games too....despite how laggy and bitchy they can get. but i just get tired of 'em...... and yess i screw around a lot..... then people bitch at me..... but it's all good fun..... i'm just sayin' we need to play more stricts......
ya, I luv passwords, they keep out most of the morons and force ppl to use IRC.
well i think thats y we dont spawn pw games automaticly...its a waste on the server. if u want a game...go on irc and start it. if its pw and no one plays it because A) they dont know the pw or B)they dont like the map, then its just gunna sit there and we will have to kill them all. i guess in short what my opnion is if it aint broke...dont fix it.
Opens are a fundamental and critical part of Winbolo, and if you don't want to play in them, then don't. Opens bring in newbies, and Winbolo needs as much of them as it can get (except I would prefer not the preteen crowd the Winbolo community seems to be plagued with lately). I also personally know plenty of Winbolo vets who won't play strict/tournament games simply for the fact that they don't enjoy the competitiveness (or honestly the other players having egotrips). I find opens to be fun and relaxing to a point. I guess it depends on my mood.
yeah you're not getting the point nemo...... nowhere did i say "ban newbies" ..... i know opens are a valuable part of the game but we shouldnt be playing ALL OPENS otherwise those newbies will never advance to the next level of play........
That gets funnier every time you say it.
Or not.
Well for us vets its always a nice break to sit and play an open. You don't see others complaining when there is nothing but strict games do ya? Well for my 2 cents I find opens fun and challenging sometimes, so next time you want to complain start a strict and waite, best thing to do.
Well, as much as I can see most ppls point of response to a laid back open game. And there continuous replies on how it is less competitive or "non-stressful, there are some issues that were ambiguously brought up, but no one realized there true weight to the discussion.
1.) Newbies:
Opens tend to attract newbies, which Nemo makes a valliant
Point that they are a contribution to gathering more and more players.
Nemo however also mentioned that the "Preteens" were a drag.
Unfortunately, the majority of the newbies out there playing in opens
right now are in ages of 11-16. Now Respectively, there are some vets
or commendable players within that range, but there are also large
amounts of them that are obscene, neglectful, and even deceitful in
the games. This is rather obnoxious. Mass Allying has become
more and more of a common move for them, whether they hold a
couple pills to as far as all the pills! They also continue to bury us
with alliance requests. Sometimes even as far as killing us while were
on there team, because apparently they would rather be incharge of
the teams belongings. Are these newbies truly an asset? A rather
Enveloping question to ponder.
2.):Vets:: \
Vets in an open tend to flock together. By this I mean they tend
always ally another vet, or experienced player and try to tie
down a postiion and form a "base." Profoundly enough they
Typically dont have a choice in the matter due to the number of
Newbies mass aligned and the amount of "Suicide Hardliners". I
for one think this is rather repetitive and boring after a while.
I beleive that was the direction Q was heading with. Opens as a
Large undoubtfully have potentional to be a promiseing game
but the results seem inevitably readable and predictable, each
and every time.
3.) Options:[/u]
Sitting out games: we all know is rather annoying and
tedious, and even if you sit out one, it doesn't mean that after
that a strict game will be next, its inevitable that defeat from
one map will only cause the newbie to rush to the next open in
hopes to get bases ahead of the competition. Hence if you sit
out u will never play unless you belly opens.
Mapping a Strict and waiting: Well as pmg voiced, with
school and college classes back in session, alot of the regulars
that knew the lingo, as far as respect to wait to play when
a "call" is issued, are not around. This leaves you with the
perserverence and patience to sit and wait, which in some cases
is never-ending.
4.) In Conclusion It is possible that we will have to be
humble until winter break arrives, for students. Perhaps, a
more initiative on the usuals to buddy up with newbies rather
then condeming them and talking about how worthless they are
would allow you to teach and explain to them the true ropes. A
old player by the name of "Gal" or aka "Boatmaker" used to get
plenty of newbies to respect and follow strict game ettique
merely by being over pleasant with them, and then calmly
presenting the rules and asking if they may comply. Nine times
outta ten I would see a cooperative reaction from them, due to
her respect towards them. This doesnt mean every newbie will
oblige and acknowledge these requests but it is a valiant effort
on our part!

Yes indeed. And if a player really wants to learn, they will. I didn't learn by having been treated nicely, i learned from being called a mother fucker and cussed at when i joined a strict and just started playing (i thought it was comical when everyone else would just sit there and i would be able to take bases while they were, as i thought, zoned out) Opens can be fun, but as addbot said, can get very boring too, as play will usually go in the same direction, basemaking and suiciding, because the map gets mined quickly. I usually ally with friends that know the rules, and know how to play right, and stick with that... there's nothin more fun then chillin with your 1 or 2 friends on a 12-pill base fighting newbies. Unfortunately, sometimes, even when the newbies have MORE PILLS than you (like 10 to 6) they ally everyone they posibly can anyway, and sometime it just gets overwelming snd impossible to fight back. good post addbot. Im glad someone sees the light. 8) :P
newbies need open games so they can learn how to play also they practice on open games so if you ban them they would nto come to play winbolo
TERMINATOR
Sooo...when no one, neither newbs or vets wants to ally with you...what does THAT mean??? Sheez...I didn't think I was that bad.
