Attacks on the websites and winbolo

Okay....so I imagine in a scenario with one computer running a game with alot of players and the upload is maxed out. The other computer, if it was being used simultaneously for ONLY a download or web browsing - would it be affected by the heavy upload demand? And would the upload be affected by a light download demand?

Sorry sheepsy, but your incorrect, not all routers allow you to block IP's. The one I'm using currently doesn't allow that functionality, and neither does quite a few of the other routers I've played with. Perhaps you should post your routers make and model, so that if acro does decide to purchase one, he can get one with that functionality.

Well minnypoo, I didn't say "all routers" can block. I left it nice and vague :) But I know that D-Link routers do allow to block, as well as Linksys.

Something else more important (I think) is a firewall. If you don't have a (hardware) router, then are you using a software firewall (ex. ZoneAlarm, BlackIce, etc)? If you are, moving to a hardware router/firewall will save your computer a lot of effort.

if your modem can only provide 400 kilobytes/second, and one machine is using 300 kilobytes/second, you will notice, the second machine will only get 100 kilobytes/second, period, nothing you can do about it.

Actually min, you are so dead wrong on this that it's not even funny. See, let me tell you the reality of the situation, and that is that I thought It'd be funny to just pick a random post of yours and say you're wrong for the sake of it to tease you :)

I agree with sheeps completely, but a further note I would mention is ... if your using broadband internet, get a router, it just makes more sense that way, its far more secure.

Hehe, no firewall for me, I use the little bit more secure win98, but I don't care if something trys to crack me, I got nothing on my computer that I can do with out, just crap. Whenever I get the chance to buy & build my next computer, I'm going Linux, alot safer then Windows XP. The only downside is that no more updates for Linbolo :(

I am pretty sure wine + winbolo works....I will try it out for you tonight and get back to you on it.. I like your outlook on things "I don't care if someone is distributing child porn from my computer without me knowing" I wouldn't call 98 a more secure operating system either, or even linux.....there are exploits for everything out there, if they want in the get in depending on how much work they want to do.

Yeah but put it this way, spend a load of time trying to hack into linux, or try to hack a Dell with winxp loaded on it, alot of people that use winxp don't update EVERYDAY like M$ says, that's just how unsafe xp is. So most hackers will go for a less secure system, unless it was a targeted place, like a business or something. Plus I don't think I'm a prime target, since I have nothing important on my computer. And they couldn't link child pr0n to me do to that 1. I don't have a digital camera 2. our town is about 550 ppl 3. no vehichle so I'm not going anywhere. =/
Jan 08, 2005 02:39
still, i wouldnt be puttin that you dont have a firewall on a post about attacks and punk hackers. maybe they already got one of their bots on your computer...
Jan 08, 2005 18:45
shh, I don't care, I can easily back track and it will be gone, not big problem. =/ Then I'll obtain IP address (through DOS) and do an IP search to find the punk kid. =/

yup yup, I stay up all night long talking mad shit about NAS to LRL. When I fall asleep and dream, I even dream of NAS, hence why I can't even sleep. In fact, it's bothered my sleep so much I haven't had any sleep in 45 days at all. And since I'm awake, I just keep on talking mad about NAS to LRL and anyone who is online - even those chicks at irc.man-hating-lesbos.com! You sure are one smart cookie DZ to have figured this all out.

ok so i get on my computer and try to get on the internet. and my shit reboots every like 30-60 min. and i got on irc to ask some computer buffs and the same thing is going on with them. one said something about some gay virus and nas or whatever. so how do u get rid of it? do i have to reformat some ish or what?
Jan 12, 2005 05:31
Well if it's a Virus for sure and not a hardware issue, find out the date you got the virus and you can backtrack to a date before you got the virus. If you want me to get in depth what backtracking is, then say so, otherwise you can use google to find out how to do it. Also if he gave you a virus for sure, that's a serious offense, get his IP address and do a whois search to find out where he is and reoort him(if he's not masking his IP address, which is another serious offense). Of course this is only if you have hard evidence that he infact gave it to people on purpose.
Jan 13, 2005 05:15
according to indiana, here is one of nas's ip:

nas@adsl-66-127-77-185.dsl.sntc01.pacbell.net

I posted following a suggestion by LRLd to do so. maybe we can post the diff ips he has to get a range.
