Let's just do this! If it didn't work, all of the larger communities wouldn't be doing it. As for the whining we'd get if we did this, go ahead - ask me if I care. :)

I kinda agree... There is elegance in simplicity. Forget the complex list of rules... Just let the mods moderate. Let the whiners whine. This is a small community of winbolo players we are talking about! I don't see anything to indicate that E hasn't picked a good set of mods. If they have time to devote to it, all power to them. Let's have a serious forum where people can post about winbolo and winbolo issues, not useless name-calling or finger-pointing. Create a "Junk Drawer" for people to vent their frustrations. Let's play bolo people!

Well, here is a forum policy that is much simplier ..... note, I'm not suggesting we use this one for winbolo, I'm just posting it for an example so that people such as fermat/acro have an Idea what I was refering too. This one is used on a board with thousands of active users.

While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

You will not attempt to create more than one account on this forum. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned.

This forum system uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any of the information you have entered above, they serve only to improve your viewing pleasure. The email address is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one).

While the advice given on this board is generally given in good faith we can not guarantee that the person giving that advice is qualified to do so. If you are not technically qualified to judge the validity of any advice you recieve here you are strongly advised to seek an opinion from someone who is. Any modifications you do to your vehicle based on information on this board is entirely at your own risk. We can not stress strongly enough the importance of getting any work checked by a qualified professional.

The other forums crack was simply that, if this were just another forum I wouldn’t be here, nor would min nor anyone, use your fucking brain for something else then filling the space between your ears.

Lets compare ... here is the quote of what you said ....

This is not other forums, if it was, you would not be a moderator and this community’s history wouldn’t apply.

Strange, seems like an attack on my credibility as a moderator ..... At this point I'm going to be ignoring any further posts from you, its obvious your not interested in actually contributing anything of use to this discussion. Note how your starting with personal attacks and swearing? .... Nothing but a lust for power.

Seems to me I’ve contributed quite a bit. You defined inappropriate just a smidge more. While you don’t agree with the public view, or simply don’t want to be bothered with it, at least one other person agrees with me.

Min, you’d say leaders should not be questioned, and have to sow what they’ve been doing (as you’ve said a mirror like image of this before). You would say “you must trust your leaders”. I’ve never heard anyone say anything good about blinded trust.

And min, if I wanted to make a attack on your “credibility as a moderator”. I’d simply go through and make this huge ass list of everything you’ve ever done to diminish this community. Believe me, it’s not a pretty list.

I guess this just means that you'll have to ... trust ... that the moderators doing things properly, and since, me, sheeps, fermat, elvis, are all moderators....... We arn't morons, we can follow the very explicit rules that are listed here.

There’s the trust line…

I didn’t say they needed to see the offending post. People have the right to see the decision making process of which they could be subject to.

This is a internet forum, not criminal law.

For example, min removed a post, he starts by posting a new topic offending post say #21 (having labeled the moved post this) and he gives a quick description of the offending post. Such as, “It gives detailed info on how to hack!” Add a link to the moved post in the moderator only forum, then mods can go read it but users cannot. Yet the public still gets to see the process.

This is not feasible due to how phpbb works lrl, not without severe modifications, you know this, why are you stirring the pot? the post gets moved, people vote, done ... this isn't rocket science, This is far more complex than most forums have in place, where you just get your post deleted, if you snivel about it, your snivelling post is deleted, you get sent a email warning, if you mistbehave again, your account is locked ... period .. end of discussion, there is no transparency, there is nothing to make sure the moderators do their jobs properly..... And quite honestly, all this in unnessicary, but becuase its what overly paranoid people want, its being implemented anyways .... (you, and fi ..... very paranoid that your fragile internet forum posting rights might be stepped on).

Min

So at that point I was stirring the pot? And it cannot be done? And you wouldn’t trust me? *laughing my ass off*

I’d suggest everyone take a good long hard look at this and re-read it a couple times.

I suppose I’m done posting here unless I just feel the urge again, it’s quite obvious that min doesn’t agree with any of my suggestions and therefore doesn’t want me participating.

Go ahead. I'd love to see you attempt to draw up this list (be sure that these are things I've actually done mind you ... not stuff nemokrad, or anyone else I had no control over) and while your at it, make a list of everything YOU'VE done to 'diminish' this community.

whiel you guys are at it, make a list of what i've done to deminish the community. I also infiltrated the .us framework and stole the plans for the future of winbolo, everyone beware, especially Maddmaxx

Lol. Your drawings never cease to amuse me SJ.
May 31, 2005 03:44
Hahaha. Damn you really shoulda did some drawings for the pic contest. LMAO.
May 31, 2005 04:15
Well Min, after examining SJ's picture and thinking about the topic at hand. Would that post be deemed inappropiate? I mean it not only points out that everyone is thinking about sleeping with Ren's mother, but also has killing you on the to do list. So would that be a satircal, acceptable post. Or a post that deserves to be removed from the public eye? Just wondering because i still agree with the proposal, but i want to know how much censorship is being called in, because i find that picture HIGH-larious and would hate to see things like that be covered up.

* Inappriopriate content examples
- Advertisements or spam for things not bolo related.
- Porn, warez, cracks, serials, etc.
- Links to viruses or other computer damaging websites.
- Double messages (second message can be deleted or moved to mod-only).

Its not spam, or advertising ... its not porn, warez, cracks ..... its not a virus or a link to another website ... or a double message ..... therefore it would not be moderated.

SJ's post could dance the "not appropriate to younger people" line of reasoning, but I believe that particular part of the policy will have to be clarified in another policy update in the future.

Either way, I think sj's post is hilarious, and even if it was against the policy, I'd have a hard time bringing myself to moderate something of that nature. Its funny, and relevant to this thread.

May 31, 2005 04:47
Good deal, i think that is fair enough. Thanks Min, hope this new policy works out. If not at least you tried.
May 31, 2005 05:24
I find it nicely satirical, keep it min or you could loose support :( .
May 31, 2005 21:07
Nice post SJ. Oh btw, stay off min, rens mom is all elvis's.
Jun 01, 2005 01:26
I better make it more simple next time, I think I confused F16
Jun 04, 2005 02:39
*bump* The "Yeas" have an obvious victory. How do we now go about putting this policy in place? We could create another thread to discuss this perhaps? Min?

we wait until the vote time I put in concludes, at which point the vote will be locked, and I'll deal with it.

A good thing would be to have a policy on the uploaded maps too ! With a "only mods folder" where mods can move bad maps (same policy than the forum, and some more : nazi symbols, religious symbols in general and other tendentious things...) :?:
Jun 26, 2005 01:25
What have you against nazi/religious symbols? It sounds like you're discriminating against people for wanting to display thier faiths!

-Madd Maxx-
Jun 26, 2005 21:27
WinBolo is not the place to have political / religious wars : we only fight friendly to play and to have fun, and not to spray political or religious messages. It would only open flame wars !

What if my faith teaches we must kill all hispanic people? Would I also be welcomed in your kingdom, MM? :?
Jun 26, 2005 22:24
There are quite a few crap maps in the map collection... some of which do not even belong to people but are in their collections anyways.
Jun 26, 2005 22:36
Acro, the kingdom I live in is that of Canada, and thus is NOT my own. The sovereign of the Maple Kingdom is Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom, Canada and Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, and SHE would probably let you in if you didn't tell her ministers your beliefs. But if I do ever own my own kingdom, I shall let you in, even if you want to kill hispanics. If you *do* kill one, however, I shall have you hung, drawn, and quartered, with your head placed on a pike in full public view.
