I'm considering hosting a not-quite-tournament of game-theme maps.

The details I've worked out so far:

1. There will be no prizes, or any real official recognition. I've seen what happens to tourneys in the past when people decide that the wrong person won, and I'd rather that this just be for fun.

The details I haven't:

1. What maps? Tix Tox Pillbox is the only one I've settled on specifically, but if you know of any good racing maps or capture the flag maps then feel free to share 'em. Also, how many should we keep in the rotation?

2. When? Click here to vote for the time that's most convienient for you.

I've played the Basketball map about 10 or 12 years ago, and it was good fun. It might be hard to get 6 players together to play a "gimmick" map though - I've noticed it's hard enough to get 6 to play a normal strict. Count ol' CF in, though.

Here are the rules:

Here's a new map that I just thought up. I made it in an attempt to come
up with a new type of map that has never been seen before. This one is a
b-ball court with one pill in the center that is the "ball". The idea is
to have an even # of players (although it's not really necessary) and make
two teams that start on opposing sides of the pill. Each team them tries
to kill the pill and score by picking up the pill and building it in the
other team's "basket" (a crater surrounded by a wall on each side). I put 4
bases on each half of the court, player 1 gets the left side bases and
player two gets the right, so they are "Captains" more or less.

I thought this was a cool combination of a joust and capture the flag... I
haven't had the time to test it out proplerly because of finals, but I hope
y'all will and that you will like it.

Oh, I hadn't decided on all of the rules yet, I don't think you ought to be
able to use boats to move the pill (out of bounds is the water), and you
ought not be able to alter your basket in any way (i.e. building more walls
around it or mining it).

Just use your head when starting the game and outline the rules a little
before you get going. If anyone has suggestions, just e-mail me at the
address below and let me know what you think, I will revise the map
whenever I feel it neccessary.

Depending on how many players we get and how consistently they show up, this may or may not end up in the tourny.

You have zet. I have never seen those maps before... on some of them the pillboxes and bases are boxed in ....

weekends ehh a little shaky for me...

for me.... pretty much... 8AM-12:30PM WESTERN TIME and 4PM-5:30PM WESTERN TIME

i think that if everone put down what times to do it at, it will never happen. Who ever is hosting the server should put down when it is up, and then you find time to fit into that

I'm trying to figure out what will work best for everybody. Then I'll make a decision.

I'm thinking of getting things underway next week sometime. Tommorow I'll be getting my wisdom teeth taken out and I expect to be out of commission for at least a few days. When I do start up the tournament, I'll only be hosting TTPB games as a kind of trial run to see how many people we can actually get into the games. If we get enough people interested, we'll start up other game-theme maps like basketball and Bridge Over the River Kwai and the like that require a bit more setup (and zet's World Cup map, of course.)

Any questions, comments or suggestions welcome.

i got an idea for a game....

called Prisoner Of War....

each team sends an enemy player to the other side, and the team has to wall in the eneny player and make sure he/she does not escape....

like capture the flag... but with a player...!

I'm pretty sure I'll be running things 4:00 - 8:00 this Friday. If you can't make it then, I'll try and run it sometime Saturday and Sunday (vote for your times, people!) No promises, though.

If you're in the same time zone as California, then it'd be the same time. If you're not, click here to find out what time zone your state is in.
