So imagine if we had another Fermat-style tournament, but there was a tier of prizes and money.

The first-place winner in each division would win $100, and the runner up would get $75. Third place is $50, ect.

Anyone up for that?

How would you determine someone's division?

I think initially, anyone can join whichever division they want, and then other players can vote before the tournament starts to move players around and even everything out.

Isn't introducing money into an already volatile environment a bad, bad idea? People got pissed enough in past tourneys when there wasn't even a freaking e-trophy.

Hi!

Someone will bitch about it I'm sure, but since the tournament will be run by the participating players they'll have to work out any issues that arise by themselves, unless someone wants to help manage everything.

First off, who's putting the money up? Will there be an entry fee?

As much as this community has died off... I would think that it'd be hard enough to get a free tourney organized. Although it might bring some of the old guys back or something. Who knows? Maybe it would take off. The more I think about it, $10 to get in, $100 to win might actually attract all the greedy bastards out of retirement. Maybe even me... but I suck, so someone would get a free advance.
