Teams haven't playing much

Mar 17, 2003 11:32 Teams haven't playing much
I've noticed(and everyone probably has) that teams aren't really playing each other. I think they should take advantage of this wonderful feature and play a little more. :?

We could probably have a tournament, which comes out with one team on top. That team could win some prize or something. :D :?

I agree, the team thing is way cool Jay. The problem with teams is getting 4+ players at the same time together who all happen to be registered to opposing teams. That's why I think it may be necessary to set up a scheduler for team games even if we don't have an IBL feature on .net. It's good to have a forum to challenge people, but we need to have a place to schedule accepted challenges and maybe even do something like send an email reminder to the contenders the day of the big battle. I dunno how well that'd work to be honest since people might still come and go as they please, but it's a thought. Better ideas are looming, so cough em up people! How else could we promote the team feature of .net?

hrm, the team feature seems to have ... issues ... perhaps there should be some splitup of the teams .. like "2x2" teams or 3x3 teams .. and have a maximum number of players in those teams .. so we don't get gigantic 10 player teams ... which will never actually play a game ..... but I think it does require some tweaking .. so that people can actually play ranked team games.

I think 10 player .net teams are okay, cuz as I understand it, if 2 of those players play a 2-player .net team in a 2x2, it still reports. Everyone on the team doesn't need to be in the game, right Elvis?

I asked elvis that question. and everyone on the team must be present for it to rank. so ............

From the help:

Why didn't my team get ranked?
As Winbolo.net is an automated ranking system and does not rely on any human game reporting certain conditions must be met for the game to be considered a valid team game. The criteria for a game to be ranked is:

* One team must have captured and own all bases.
* No non-participants can have captured any bases or pillboxes.
* All team members on both sides must be allied at the end of the game.
* At least one base or pillbox must be captured by two members of both teams.

I think its a great idea for teams to challenge each other. I've even took the time to build a Team Strange website. If people want to play team strange (2v2) just Email Rom4in@cox.net, they've had the chance to challenge us but im not sure they even know the site exist. I was thinking under the team statistics on winbolo.net there should be a "challenge" button where it forwards a message to an Email you apply under your team edit options. Teams with 4-9 players should be able to play 2x2 games and build points for statistics specifically for 2x2 stats.
With the prize, i would love to help out with the cost of things. I believe it would motivate more players to showup and play and get more envolved. Also under statistics, there should be a "match history" icon or text, to show their match history obviously. Would be great.

* At least one base or pillbox must be captured by two members of both teams

so that means .... not all members of the team need to be present? .. or am I reading that wrong

No what it means is that both sides must of participated in the game by capturing one base/pillbox. That ways one team can't capture all the bases and score a win if the other team didn't do anything the whole game. The logic I see for it is, "By capturing a base or pill you are agreeing to take part in this game to be ranked."

so all registered members of a team must be present for a game to be ranked? ...... the description is rather confusing

Yes,

Try reading it as an AND if that will help:

One team must have captured and own all bases AND No non-participants can have captured any bases or pillboxes AND All team members on both sides must be allied at the end of the game AND At least one base or pillbox must be captured by two members of both teams

Elvis, what Min's asking about is if a team with 10 players registered on .net must all be in the game, or if 2 players out of 10 can represent the team in a game and the outcome will affect the whole team rating.

No, all team members must be allied for it to register as a team game. See rule 3: "All team members on both sides must be allied at the end of the game."
