Applying a skin will change the color of the tank on your screen only unless the other players have the same skin installed. I'd make my tank either green or a transparent png.

Most of the good players will be signed in with wbn so don't accept an alliance with anyone without the * sign before their name. Unless it's Acro in which case you should hit 'decline' regardless.
